A mum died days after complaining of a headache and only months after her teenage son suffered a fatal allergic reaction.
Chris Kelly’s wife Kim tragically died just days on from her 36th birthday after suffering a bleed on the brain caused by undiagnosed leukaemia.
Meanwhile he also lost his 16-year-old son Nick, in March 2020, after he ate a kebab and suffered a severe allergic reaction, Liverpool Echo reports.
Nick Kelly suddenly fell ill after buying doner meat in tomato sauce at Uno Pizza on Chapel Street, Prescot, where he regularly ate.
The teen from Prescot suffered a known nut aversion called anaphylaxis, soon after eating his usual meal.
Chris is now determined to raise £50,000 after losing both his partner and son in the space of six months.
Previously, Chris said that ‘everybody loved Nick’, and added: “There wasn’t a bad bone in him, he’d do anything for anyone.
“It was heartbreaking at the hospital, there were about 30 kids in the waiting room to say goodbye to him.
“From the Sunday until the Wednesday when he passed away, there were at least 15 children at the hospital. Nick touched so many people.”
Just six months later, Chris then lost Nick’s mum and his partner of 19 years in a second tragedy.
Chris, 45, said: “Well to be honest she was very reluctant to go to doctors over anything but it all started off with just a headache.
“She had a headache on Monday and by Tuesday she was okay again. But then on Thursday night I took her up to bed and she said ‘I feel like I’m dying.’
“Then Friday morning we woke up and I had to physically dress her, take her down stairs and wait for the ambulance.”
Kim celebrated her 36th birthday on September 7, but she died in hospital less than a week later on September 13.
Chris said that other than the headache that occurred just days before her death, there were ‘no other signs’ of Kim having leukaemia.
He said: “We knew nothing about it , no signs, no nothing. She just went into hospital with a headache.
“When she was in the ambulance she had two seizures and they did some scans and found out she had a massive bleed on the brain.
“They told me it had popped a day or so before she passed away.”
Previously posting a tribute to the mother of his kids, Chris described her as an angel on Facebook.
Chris said that Kim was ‘taken away’ too soon, just like his son Nick was, he said: “Can’t believe how empty the house feels without you here Kim.
“Miss you shouting down to me to make a brew for you. We are missing you more than words can say.
“It hurts my throat when I cry myself to sleep at night my heart feels so heavy and so empty.
“You where taken away from us way way to soon, just like Nick was Kim. God has taken another angel away from us.”
Chris is now looking to take part in a charity walk from Prescot to Newquay to raise money for Leukaemia UK.
He said that he loves walking so thought ‘why not’ raise some money for a good cause in the meantime.
He added: “I want to raise £50,000 but anything will do, to be honest. I am also hoping people can join me for five, 10 or 15 miles at a time, even if they just walk a small section.”
